Engineering challenges

What made it hard — and how we approached it

The problems
01

Brand Identity Translation

Translating Combraid's established brand identity into a cohesive digital presence that accurately represented their craftsmanship and product quality.

02

Product Catalog Organization

Creating an intuitive structure for showcasing diverse custom apparel products that highlighted their unique features while maintaining consistent presentation.

03

International Market Targeting

Designing a website that effectively appealed to both retail customers and international export partners with different needs and interests.

04

Static Site Performance

Optimizing the static website for fast loading times and excellent performance across global markets with varying internet connectivity.

Our approach

Brand-Focused Design System

Developed a comprehensive design system that translated Combraid's physical brand elements into digital components, ensuring consistent representation across the site.

Structured Product Showcase

Implemented a carefully organized product catalog with intuitive navigation and filtering options to help visitors quickly find relevant apparel solutions.

Dual Audience Content Strategy

Created separate content paths and messaging for retail customers and export partners, with tailored information addressing the specific needs of each audience.

Visual Storytelling Approach

Utilized high-quality product photography and visual narratives to showcase the craftsmanship and quality of Combraid's custom apparel products.

Performance-Optimized Static Site

Built a lightweight, fast-loading static website with optimized assets and minimal dependencies to ensure excellent performance worldwide.

Technical architecture

Statically generated brand catalog served from the edge worldwide

The Combraid Enterprise site is a Next.js and TypeScript static site that showcases the manufacturer's brands, garment catalog and export services to international wholesale buyers. Pages are pre-rendered at build time and served from a global CDN, with a lightweight inquiry flow as the only dynamic path. A static-first architecture fit a content-driven B2B showcase where speed in distant markets mattered more than server-side logic.

Clients

Retail visitors and wholesale buyers browse the responsive React site on desktop and mobile across many regions.

  • Responsive catalog pages
  • Brand showcase pages
  • Export services pages
  • Inquiry and contact form

API & edge

A global CDN serves pre-rendered HTML and optimized images from edge locations close to buyers in each market.

  • Global CDN
  • Edge caching and compression
  • Image optimization
  • Form submission endpoint

Core services

Next.js static generation turns structured catalog content into HTML at build time; the only runtime service handles inquiries.

  • Next.js static site generator
  • Tailwind design system
  • Catalog filtering on the client
  • Inquiry handler with spam protection

Data

Catalog and brand content live as structured files in the repository, with product photography stored as optimized assets.

  • Structured catalog content
  • Product photography assets
  • Pre-rendered page bundle
  • Inquiry records

Integrations

Inquiries are routed to the sales team by email and into a CRM; analytics track buyer behaviour by region.

  • Transactional email
  • CRM lead capture
  • Web analytics
  • Search engine sitemaps and structured data

Infrastructure & delivery

A git-triggered build pipeline regenerates the site on every content change and publishes it to object storage behind the CDN.

  • Git repository
  • CI build pipeline
  • Object storage hosting
  • CDN cache invalidation
  • Uptime monitoring
Request lifecycle
  1. 01

The team updates catalog content or product photography in the repository, triggering the CI build pipeline.

  2. 02

Next.js pre-renders every brand, catalog and services page and optimizes images into responsive formats.

  3. 03

The build artifact is published to object storage and the CDN cache is invalidated for changed paths.

  4. 04

A buyer in another country requests a catalog page; the nearest edge location serves the cached HTML and images.

  5. 05

Client-side filtering lets the buyer narrow garments by type without any server round trip.

  6. 06

The buyer submits an inquiry; the form endpoint validates it, blocks spam, emails sales and records the lead in the CRM.

Key decisions

Static generation instead of a CMS-backed server

Catalog content changes occasionally while traffic comes from many regions, so pre-rendering and edge delivery gave consistent speed worldwide with no servers to patch or scale.

Content in the repository, not a database

Versioned structured content kept the catalog auditable and the build fully reproducible, which suited a lean team without a dedicated content operations function.

Single dynamic path for inquiries

The only business-critical interaction is a buyer reaching sales, so one hardened form endpoint with email and CRM routing kept the attack surface minimal while supporting the 100% increase in online inquiries.

Dual-audience information architecture

Separate content paths for retail browsers and export partners let the same static build speak to both without runtime personalization.

Security & compliance
  • No server-side application or database exposed to the public internet; the attack surface is the CDN and one form endpoint.
  • HTTPS everywhere with HSTS, plus a strict content security policy on the static pages.
  • Inquiry form protected with validation, honeypot fields and rate limiting; submissions transmitted over TLS to email and CRM.
  • Buyer contact details are retained only in the sales CRM and email, with no copies on the hosting layer.
  • Deployments gated through the CI pipeline with least-privilege credentials for publishing to storage and CDN.
